Kenny ‘Hambone’ Hamilton from rural Havana, ND will be serving his award-winning BBQ ribs at the lodge on Sunday, March 2nd. When we were putting the initial team of lodge partners together, we knew we needed someone who could smoke a mean rib. Kenny is our guy, and these aren’t just any ribs. A perennial favorite at the Annual Rutland Rib Fest, Kenny takes extra care to slow cook the most tender and delicious baby back ribs. He features his two special recipe dry rubs, one regular and one spicy, to infuse flavor and add a kick. Kenny’s slow hardwood smoking process ensures each rack acheives it’s full potential. Order your ribs ‘naked’ with just the dry rub if you are a rib purist, but Kenny also has his own BBQ sauce to finish his ribs for those who are serious about finger lickin’ flavor. Either way, you can add more sauce yourself. When it comes to ribs…you are the real expert.
Order a whole rack (served whole) if you want to make the most of your appetite. Order a half rack if you must. A smaller portioned kid’s rib meal is also available. Sides include Kenny’s baked potato (which is just as serious as his ribs, you’ll see), lodge beans, homemade coleslaw and fresh baked corn bread. Oh, and there is dessert. We’ll keep that a secret for now.
The event is on Sunday, March 2nd at Coteau des Prairies Lodge. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited and meals are available by reservation only. The prices are $35 for a whole rack, $25 for a half rack, $10 for a kids meal ages 5 to 12 and free for kids ages 4 and under. Water and coffee will be provided.
