Beginning Drawing and Watercolor Workshop (8/20-23)

Join Barbara Benda Nagle, professional artist and instructor, as she provides her unique curriculum for learning how to draw and paint at the beautiful Coteau des Prairies Lodge in southeastern North Dakota! With over 30 years of teaching experience, Barbara simplifies complex art concepts so all levels of learners may succeed.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to execute a variety of drawing and watercolor techniques
  • How to make sense of the color wheel and use it to your advantage
  • How to use “value” (lights and darks) to make paintings dramatic
  • How to design your painting rather than copy photographs
  • How to create strong, dynamic compositions

Dates: Choose from May 7-10th, 2018 or August 20-23rd, 2018

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily

Participant profile: All levels of learners, ages 15 and up. All packages include home-cooked lunch.

A. Bare Bones Commuter Package: workshop and lunch Cost: $450 + tax

B. Deluxe Commuter Package: workshop, lunch & dinner, Hayride Tour Cost: $545 + tax

C. Lodge Package: workshop, 4 nights’ lodging (Sun-Weds.) 3 meals/day and Hayride Tour. Cost $1025 + tax*

*Roommate rate: if you share a room with another artist, the cost goes down to $785 per person. Home-cooked lunch from the lodge is included in all packages.

Supplies are extra. A supply list will be provided or you may order a custom Supply Kit on your registration form (cost: $175.) This custom kit includes everything on the required supply list.

There are two handicap-accessible rooms at the lodge on the main floor. All other lodging requires climbing one flight of stairs. If you need any special accommodations or dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance so we may accommodate you accordingly. Out of courtesy for people with allergies, we ask that participants refrain from wearing perfume, colognes or strong aftershave.
