Uffda Day 2011 [Video]

Take a few minutes to enjoy this celebration of our community’s Norwegian heritage. This year marked the 27th Annual Uffda Day Fall Festival, held in Rutland, ND (population 163). Thousands of folks, delighted by Scandinavian treats and the simpler things in life, flocked to the locally renown event on Sunday, October 2nd. Rutland is located 9 miles from the entrance of Coteau des Prairies Lodge.

Coteau des Prairies Lodge made its first public appearance in the Uffda Day parade. Look for the ‘mini lodge’ float!

Fun Fact: On June 26th, 1982, Rutland made an international claim to fame for making the world’s largest hamburger. The hamburger was cooked on both sides in a giant two sided fry pan that was flipped with the use of a crane. The hamburger weighed 3591 lbs! There is a large round sign on the north side of town which displays this glorious record for all visitors to see. And guess what? The sign is actually one side of the giant fry pan used to cook the hamburger. Yep, its true.
