Uffda Day 2013

2013 marks the 29th annual observance of the fall festival in Rutland known as Uffda Day. The fun begins at 11am on Sunday, October 6th. You may want to consider a road trip to Rutland for the day. Or if you would like to take in more of Sargent County, we still have some rooms available at the lodge. Rutland, which is 9 miles away, is the nearest town to Coteau des Prairies Lodge.

Uffda Day 2013

Each year on Uffda Day, well over a thousand folks of Scandinavian descent as well folks who wish they were of Scandinavian descent descend upon the city of Rutland (population 163). Why? Here’s why. Lefse. Krumkake. Rosettes. Fattigman. Sandbakkels. Rommegrot. Abelskivers. Scalloped potatoes with ham. Rice Pudding. And don’t forget Uffda Tacos! If you haven’t heard of these Norwegian and Swedish treats…it’s time for you to experience Uffda Day. You will have the opportunity to become well versed in the consumption and pronunciation of these traditional foods.

Other festivities include:

  • Parade at 1pm
  • Authentic Scandinavian meal at City Hall from 11am-4:30pm
  • Pioneer demonstrations: hardanger, quilting, embroidery, wool spinning, ice cream and ropemaking
  • Antique tractor demonstrations
