These 12 inch logs will form the base of the log wall. The logs are stacked in this manner to promote drying.
The logs were milled at Logging Camp Ranch by John Hanson and then hand peeled at the Prairie Learning Center in St. Gertrude, ND.
The logs originated in Slope County in the southern North Dakota Badlands. John Hanson of Logging Camp Ranch fell the trees from his own Ponderosa Pine forest.
The log crew included Joe Breker, John Hanson, Chuck Sundlie, Corey Arnold, Eugene Breker, Olivia Breker, Maria Breker and Megan Goedert.
The Gulleson Brothers (Lance, Cody and Cameron) of Rutland, ND were kind enough to let us use their hay hauling truck to haul logs.
Chuck Sundlie drove the semi back and forth from St. Gertrude, ND (Prairie Learning Center) to Coteau des Prairies Lodge.
