Fall Beer Dinner – Wednesday, October 9th

On Wednesday, October 9th, 2019, we are hosting Bent Paddle Brewing Company at our Fall Beer Dinner! Bent Paddle Brewing Sales Manager and Certified Cicerone Matthew Barthelemy will be introducing his amazing beers. Lodge favorite guest Chef Jeff Anderson from Blue Plate Restaurants (Minneapolis) is planning a great five course pairing menu.

Menu

1 – Venture Pils [Pilsener Lager] – Soft baked pretzel, apple butter, cheddar, black pepper

2 – Paddle Break Blonde [Belgian Style Blonde Ale] – Sweet potato hash, egg yolk jam, sage, pork cheek

3 – Bluegrass Kanu [Session Pale Ale *infused w/ blueberry & lemongrass] – Poached apple salad, toasted quinoa, green curry vinaigrette

4 – 14º ESB [Extra Special Amber Ale] – Pork ribs, black sesame bbq sauce, grilled onions, fried garlic

5 – Cold Press Black [Coffee Infused Black Ale] – Brown butter cake, streusel, milk caramel

About the Brewery

Bent Paddle Brewing Company is a 30-barrel production craft brewery and taproom located in the beautiful Great Lakes port town of Duluth, Minnesota. The brewers of Bent Paddle Brewing Co. use the amazing water of Lake Superior to brew the freshest and most dependable craft beer possible. Lake Superior is 10% of the worlds fresh water and 100% of our beer is made with that water. It is incredibly soft and mimics the water of Pilsen, Czech Republic, the birthplace of Pilseners. Our flagship beers, as well as specialty seasonal offerings, are available in varied keg sizes as well as 12 oz. cans at bars, liquor stores, restaurants and event facilities throughout Minnesota and beyond, as well as by the glass or 64oz. growler to go in our on-site taproom.

Matthew Barthelemy has worked for Bent Paddle Brewing Co for the over 5 years and has been in the craft beer industry for the past 6 years in a variety of roles including brewer, consultant, sales representative & taproom beertender. This diverse background has provided him with an uniquely broad understanding of the craft beer movement and Bent Paddle Brewing in particular. He gained his Certified Cicerone achievement in 2015 and has used his knowledge of beer and food pairings in over 20 beer dinners. His current favorite beer styles are German lagers; festbiers, helles and pilsners.

About the Chef

Jeff Anderson is the Corporate Chef at Blue Plate Restaurant Co. and has served as Executive Chef at numerous celebrated Twin Cities restaurants including The Lowry and The Freehouse. His amazing ‘cooking from scratch’ style has earned him quite the following. Jeff makes everything in house and that will be the case for our Spring Wine Dinner.

Jeff is a familiar face in the kitchen at Coteau des Prairies Lodge where he has already put together some incredible beer pairing dinners. His previous pairings at the lodge featured Brau Brothers Brewing Co., Lucid Brewing Co., Fargo Brewing Co., Fulton Brewing Co., Fernson Brewing Co., Summit Brewing Co., and Gundlach Bundschu Winery.

Event Info

The event is on Wednesday, October 9th at Coteau des Prairies Lodge. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited and meals are available by reservation only. Alcohol will be served only to those over 21 years of age. The price is $70 per person. The meal includes a gourmet five course meal and 5oz. of beer served with each course. Water and coffee will be provided. Sodas and additional alcoholic beverages will be sold at the bar. Doors open at 5pm, guests are welcome to come early, tour the lodge and enjoy refreshments served at the bar. When you arrive at the lodge, sign your party in with our hostess. Guests will be seated for the meal promptly at 6pm.

    • Hey John, thanks for the feedback. We like wine too! 🙂 Keep an eye for wine dinners, which we host from time to time. Weekends are our busy times with groups at the lodge so most of our special dining events fall on weekdays. We hope to meet you someday.
